What connections/wires do I need to hook up home audio and video?

Comonents: TV, DVD Player, Satellite, Receiver
Assuming all of these components have all possible (today’s standard) inputs and outputs, what would be the best way to hook them up? Thanks.
I mean comPonents…
So are some people saying all I need is HDMI cables? Nothing else? Surely for the satellite I will not use HDMI?

  1. If it is just a DVD Player and not a recorder
Your TV is likely to have enough input slots to deal,
    without anything complicated

  2. HDMI for best quality,

anythinmg from RCA plugs to S-video and HDMI hookins… that help?

  4. Click this link right here: http://www.avtruths.com/allhookup.html

  5. Run HDMI from the DVD player and Sat receiver straight to the TV.

This will allow you to use the TV speakers for casual viewing.

    For more serious viewing:

If the TV has coaxial-digital or optical output – run this to the receiver. Fire up the receiver for serious movie watching.

Or – run optical from the DVD player and Sat receiver to the audio receiver.
